ILOILO City – A woman’s dead body was fished out of an irrigation canal in Barangay P.D. Monfort, Dumangas, Iloilo.
The 46-year-old Rolanda Almeda was a resident of the village.
The body, recovered around 10 a.m. yesterday, bore no signs that Almeda was deliberately killed.
She likely drowned, said Senior Inspector Charlie Sustento, Dumangas police chief.
Almeda was last seen alive on August 19 around 5 p.m. near the irrigation canal.
She appeared drunk, witnesses said.
“According to her family, she was often binge drinking,” said Sustento.
Perhaps she accidentally fell into the irrigation canal, he said./PN
