ILOILO City – An uncle shot his nine-year-old nephew in Barangay Malamboy Bondolan, Alimodian, Iloilo.
Jan Ray Anico died of a gunshot wound on his stomach while being rushed to the Aleosan District Hospital.
The shooting happened around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday at the boy’s house.
The suspect, 57-year-old Eliseo Prandas, went looking for his brother-in-law Eustaquio Anico, said Chief Inspector Ramon Coriana, Alimodian police chief.
A sister of Prandas was Anico’s wife.
As soon as both Eustaquio and son Jan Ray opened the door, Prandas fired his 12-gauge shotgun.
“His target was his brother-in-law. They had a land dispute. But it was his nephew that got hit,” said Coriana.
Prandas fled after the shooting. Pursuing policemen arrested him in Barangay Poblacion, Alimodian.
The cops also recovered the 12-gauge shotgun.
Prandas was detained at the Alimodian police station. He faces two charges – murder and illegal gun possession./PN
