MANILA – Ceres-Negros Football is favored to extend its home court dominance as it faces a short-handed Davao-San Miguel Aguilas Football Club in the 2017 Philippines Football League tonight at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City.
The Negros Occidental-based football team, which came from 7-0 victories over the Meralco Manila Football Club and Ilocos United Football Club, has never been beaten yet at their home floor this season.
The Davao-San Miguel will be playing without Jaime Cheng, Dylan de Bruycker, Van Rey Diaz, Jordan Jarvis, Richard Talaroc, Jr. Rey De La Torre, and Junell Bautista, who were with the Philippines U-22 team in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
“We cannot take for granted this team even if they are still win-less and missing a lot of players,” said Ceres-Negros head coach Risto Vidakovic. “We still want to have a dominant win in preparation for our future matches.”
Leading the way for Ceres-Negros are Stephan Schrock, Iain Ramsay, Patrick Reichelt, Bienvenido Marañon, Francisco Rodriguez, Ronald Muller, Kevin Ingreso, Manuel Ott, Jose Porteria, Carli de Murga, Martin Steuble, Jeffrey Christiaens, and Omid Nazari.
Bannering the Davao-San Miguel are Nathaniel Burkey, Gerald Layumas, Jason Cordova, John Nico Macapal, Marko Trkulja, Brad McDonald and transferees from Ceres-Negros Jason de Jong, Jorrel Aristorenas and Simone Rota.
“We have already processed their release papers,” said Ceres-Negros team manager James Dinsay. “If (Davao-San Miguel) can fix their requirements, they can play as early as Saturday.”
Ceres-Negros is currently fourth in the standings with 19 points on six wins, one draw and two losses, while Davao-San Miguel is at seventh with five points on five draws and five losses.
Ceres-Negros is inviting Negrense football fans to watch their match against Davao-San Miguel at 7 p.m. Grandstand A, C, D, E and bleachers section will be open to the public for free. No more ticket distribution unlike before./PN
