BACOLOD City — A cargo truck hauling boulders fell into a canal, pinning to death a man and injuring seven others in Sitio Dalayapan, Barangay Caduhaan, Cadiz City.
Police identified the fatality as Mark Franco, 32, of Hacienda Cambukaw, Barangay San Pablo, Manapla town.
The truck’s brake malfunctioned and its hydraulic pump exploded Friday afternoon.
Those injured were truck driver Ramil Moreno, 23, of Barangay Lopez Jaena, Sagay City; Franco’s father, Johnny, 58; Danny Boy Belleza, 19, of Hacienda Candelaria, Barangay Caduhaan; and Sitio Dalayapan residents Efren Lomugdang Jr., 26; Joey Ando, 29; Edwin Guerra, 30; and Christian Despues, 28.
From a quarry site, the cargo truck was on its way to a construction site when it fell into the canal.
Those injured were treated at the Cadiz District Hospital./PN
