ILOILO City – Two police officers of Dueñas, Iloilo’s police station face possible criminal and administrative charges.
Thirty-nine-year-old tricycle driver John Pauya of Barangay Poblacion, Dueñas claimed Police Officers 2 Gabby Legreso and Noli Malones threatened him with a gun and grabbed his belt bag around 5:35 p.m. on Monday.
“They were not able to get my belt bag. I refused to give them my bag. I was afraid they would put illegal drugs there or kill me,” said Pauya.
The tricycle driver said he was brought to the police station but eventually released because no illegal drugs or guns were recovered from him.
Malones and Legreso appeared drunk when they apprehended him, claimed Pauya.
Senior Inspector Rowena Hubero, Dueñas police chief, said Malones and Legreso were intelligence officers of the police station and both were suspecting Pauya to be armed with a gun.
“Our office is open (to receive) complainants (against our policemen). We do not tolerate wrongdoings,” said Hubero.
The Iloilo Police Provincial Office, on the other hand, will conduct an investigation, said Chief Inspector Aron Palomo, spokesperson./PN
