ATENEO de Manila University Lady Eagles will be tested when it faces Perlas-BanKo Lady Spikers in an exhibition match tonight at the University of San Agustin gym in Iloilo City.

Game time starts at 6 o’clock after preliminary games featuring Ateneo de Iloilo (ADI) elementary team vs Team USA at 2 p.m., ADI high school vs Block 17 at 3 p.m. and the Biron Cup All-Stars at 4 p.m.

Ateneo will use the exhibition match to test its current lineup in preparation of the UAAP women’s volleyball campaign while Perlas aims to check the competitiveness of its roster for the Premier V-League.

Composing Lady Eagles were Jhoana Maraguinot, Bea de Leon, Madeleine Madayag, Kat Tolentino, Pauline Gaston, Jennelle Lo, Julianne Samonte, Bettina Abella, Ana Gopico, Deanna Wong, the Ilongga Dani Ravena, and Negrenses Kassandra and Candice Gequillana.

On the other hand, Lady Spikers comprises Sasa Devanadera, Suzanne Roces, Charisse Ancheta, Kara Acevedo, Ella De Jesus, Amanda Villanueva, Mae Tajima, Jem Ferrer, Rapril Aquino, Amy Ahomiro, Karla Bello, Synjin Reyes, Nicole Tiamzon, and Gizelle Tan.

“This will be an exciting game since both teams will be parading a competitive team,” said game organizer Ruding Villaruz. “We expect a tight game from both squads. [The match] could reach five sets.”

While 10 people won free Lady Eagles-Lady Spikers tickets, the General Admission section will be open for free to Ilonggos who wish to watch the games live.

And “unlike what was announced before, no need to wear blue or white shirt to watch the game for free,” Villaruz said. “This is our contribution to Iloilo City’s Charter Day celebration.”

Before the quadruple-header volleyball games, Lady Eagles and Lady Spikers will conduct volleyball clinics to select Ilonggo elementary and high school students while Ateneo will hold a by-invitation tryout./PN
