Transport leader slams ‘arrogant’ traffic enforcer

ILOILO City – A traffic enforcer faces possible termination from his work for allegedly threatening the president of the Iloilo City Loop Alliance of Jeepney Drivers and Operators Association at city hall.

Raymondo “Boyet” Parcon, 46, of Barangay Calumpang, Molo district said he will be filing criminal and administrative charges against Arturo Recanas.

If Parcon were to be believed, around 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 26, he went to the Transportation Management and Traffic Regulation Office (TMTRO) to follow up the case of arrested jeepney driver, Alvin Solonan.

Recanas arrested Solonan.

According to Parcon, while he was discussing the matter with TMTRO’s Mitch Antiqueña and Recanas, the traffic enforcer suddenly stood up and challenged him to a fistfight.

“He threatened to kill me. He was very arrogant,” Parcon told Panay News.

Recanas claimed Solonan committed a traffic violation.

“I asked him (Recanas) not detain my driver because he had no criminal violation and he only violated a traffic regulation. But instead of listening to my explanation, he got angry,” said Parcon.

Parcon said he will be charging Recanas with grave threat.

He will also be writing to Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog about Recanas.

“There is no place for an arrogant traffic enforcer in Iloilo City,” Parcon said./PN
