Dumangas, Santo Niño still unbeaten in 14-U volley

DUMANGAS and Santo Niño Elementary School stayed on top of their respective groups in the Iloilo 14 and Under Girls Volleyball League at the Central Philippine University gym in Iloilo City on Sunday.

Dumangas maintained its unbeaten record with wins over Cabatuan (25-15, 21-25, 25-18) and Oton (20-25, 26-24, 25-15). CPU, meanwhile, stayed on second place with wins over Hua Siong (25-14, 25-23) and Cabatuan (26-24, 25-15).

In other Group A matches, Oton scored a come-from-behind 25-27, 25-12, 25-17 victory over Ateneo de Iloilo while San Miguel tallied its first win at the expense of Ateneo 20-25, 25-9, 25-21.

Santo Niño Elementary School, meanwhile, continued its dominance in Group B with back-to-back wins over University of San Agustin (25-21, 25-13) and Pavia (25-13, 25-19).

La Paz National High School also won over I. Arroyo Elementary School (25-20, 25-14) and San Agustin (25-17, 25-15) while Iloilo City National High School split its games with a win over Pavia (14-25, 25-17, 25-17) and a loss to I. Arroyo (25-22, 20-25, 20-25).

Leading the Bracket A standings was Dumangas with 5-0 followed by CPU (5-1), Cabatuan (2-3), Oton National High School (2-3), Hua Siong (2-3), San Miguel (1-4), and Ateneo de Iloilo (1-4).

In Bracket B, Santo Niño leads with 5-0, followed by Bacolod Tay Tung (4-1), I. Arroyo (3-2), La Paz National High School (3-2), San Agustin (2-3), City High (1-4), and Pavia (0-6).

Cash prizes of P5,000, P3,000 and P2,000 plus trophies await the champion, first runner-up and second runner-up, respectively. The monthlong volleyball league will resume action on Sept. 30./PN
