ILOILO City — A security guard, now in jail, is the suspect behind the fatal stabbing of a man during a ramble in a KTV bar yesterday in Barangay PD Monfort, Dumangas, Iloilo.

The 24-year-old Rustan Malones of Dumarao, Capiz faces homicide charges for stabbing to death Jhon Buenconsejo, 21, of New Lucena, Iloilo.

Senior Inspector Charlie Sustento, Dumangas police chief, said the incident happened at about 12:10 a.m. when the groups of Malones and Buenconsejo drank at 2 Brothers KTV Bar, occupying separate tables.

Malones asked Buenconsejo for his turn to sing a song, but the latter refused to hand over the microphone.

This led to a commotion between the two groups, which were later pacified.

However, when Buenconsejo and his group came out, Malones suddenly boxed the victim. Another commotion ensued.

Malones, a security guard detailed at Dumangas Water District, stabbed Buenconsejo in the chest.

Malones surrendered to Police Officer 3 Ramon Baylon of the 3rd Maneuver Platoon of the Iloilo Provincial Public Safety Company, bringing the 11-inch knife he used.

He admitted stabbing the victim. He said he was willing to face the charges to be filed against him./PN
