CEBU City – Fire razed yesterday a bunkhouse of a lumber company in Barangay Tipolo, Mandaue City, Cebu province.
A family of three was killed – Antonio Paz, 34; wife Marcela, 33; and 10-year-old son Ancel Jay.
They were reportedly trapped inside the bunkhouse and died of suffocation before their bodies were burned.
Their charred bodies were found on the ground floor of the two-story bunkhouse located inside the company compound.
Senior Fire Officer 1 John Herediano of the Mandaue City Fire Department said the fire could have started at the ground floor, making escape impossible for the family.
The victims failed to get out due to the blaze and thick smoke, Herediano said.
Investigators have yet to determine the cause of the fire. (PNA)
