PBA fans were delighted when Kiefer Ravena took to Twitter on Monday afternoon to announce that he is finally entering the 2017 PBA Rookie Draft slated at the end of the month.
League followers have been waiting for the Ilonggo guard since he played his final year with Ateneo Blue Eagles in the UAAP in 2015 but only pondered on moving to the professional ranks this year.
Entering the pros was not an easy decision for Ravena, who consulted everyone close to him before submitting his application, said agent Marvin Espiritu.
“Ultimately, it was a basketball decision for him at this point,” Espiritu said. “Actually it was the consensus, especially sa family niya, that the right time to enter the PBA is now. But in the end, it’s Kiefer’s decision.”
“Actually andami niyang options, including some international offers. But after weighing a lot of things, Kiefer knows it’s about time to finally play in the PBA,” added the youthful player agent.
Ravena’s entry further turned exciting the upcoming Rookie Draft, which also includes Jeron Teng, Christian Standhardinger, Rey Nambatac, Jason Perkins, Raymar Jose, and Andreas Cahilig.
Having played recently for Gilas Pilipinas, Ravena will have an immediate impact whichever from the top three teams – Kia Picanto, NLEX Road Warriors and Blackwater Elite – selects him.

BLIND ITEM: Could it be true that a girl linked to a popular basketball player (PBP) years ago turned out to be just a “fall girl” and the cager’s real “short-term mistress” was a very popular personality (VPP) on her field.
“Matagal nang nangyari ito pero patuloy pa rin lumalabas ang issue. Si (VPP) talaga ang naging kabit ni (PBP) at iyong babaeng pinalutang nila dati ay fall girl lang para hindi masira si (VPP),” said the source.
“Nagaganap ang milagro kapag dumadalaw si (PBP) kay (VPP) para magpaayos ng kung anu-ano,” he added. “Doon daw sa opisina ni (VPP) nagaganap ang chorvahan nila.”
“Ang kaso nabuking ng ex-wife ni (PBP) na isang sikat na TV personality rin na may nagaganap na hiwaga kaya ayun, ang ipinalabas nila isa sa mga staff ni (VPP) ang kaulayaw ni (PBP) para hindi masira ang pangalan niya.”
However, the incident is now water under the bridge as PBP is now happy with his new foreigner girlfriend while VPP has recently finally settled down with her longtime boyfriend from the same field./PN
