THE MONTH of November is not only one of the “ber” months but also the “Bar” month. It’s that time of the year again when the whole nation is hooked on the hardest exam (as they say).

This is the time of the year when law graduates are almost on the finish line. This is the time of the year that all the lessons they learned in law school will be tested. No question, the Bar examinees are racking their brains for the principles, provisions and qualifying situations they learned from years in law school.

Been there, done that. I know how it feels to be pressured and eager to finally get those four letters and a dot before my name. I know that in some ways, we are similarly situated. We went through struggles and tears – all of these for the love of the legal profession.

I want to cover everything that happened to me during the Bar preparations which led to my victory. But I guess this is your story now. I know that every Bar taker has a story to tell – a story of ambition, hard work, perseverance, determination, and patience. Most of all, each has a story of faith and hope.

Let us face the fact: Our memories are delicate, imperfect and deficient. And the four Sundays of the Bar exams make us go through all of these. Even when we are well-studied, we’ll never be completely prepared. It takes a leap of faith and hope to survive and make it in the Bar exams.

Own the title. However, the title doesn’t make you; you make the title for yourself. Remember, a lot of people badly wanted your slot. Don’t waste your opportunity. I really hope that more and more law students will achieve their dreams of becoming a lawyer.

This will be the longest month of your life. You literally need more than 100 percent patience and a strong heart.

To my dear Agustinians, break a leg! Bulahan! Heart strong!
