City to accept rent from abattoir

BACOLOD City — The city government here will now receive the monthly rental fee of AVM Bernardo Engineering, operator of the city slaughterhouse here.

City government lawyers Hermilo Pauyon and Rayfrando Diaz, during a hearing on Sept. 3 regarding the consignation case that AVM filed against the city, vowed to receive the rent, said Marvin Tañada, AVM’s counsel.

They will make the necessary pleadings that will allow them to withdraw the consigned monthly rental fee of P60,990, Tañada said.

In June, AVM filed the consignation case before the Municipal Trial Court in Cities here after the city government refused to receive the company’s P60,990 rental fee for March 15 to April 15.

The slaughterhouse operator was forced to deposit their rent to the court.

It also filed against the city government last month a petition for mandamus before the Regional Trial Court.

Tañada said he will let the court decide on the said petition.

For their part, the city government lawyers hoped that the case will be settled in the next hearing next month./PN
