BACOLOD City — The series of suicide incidents in Negros Occidental has alarmed the police.
The recent one involved a teenager from the municipality of Cauayan.
Superintendent Herman Garbosa, Cuayan police chief, said Leonard Po, 19, of Barangay Isio, was found hanging in his room at about 10 a.m. on Wednesday.
A student of Alternative Learning System (ALS) in the town, Po was heard talking to someone on the phone before his death.
Garbosa suspected that a quarrel between the victim and his lover provoked him to end his life.
In La Castellana, Boogie Metsitar, 37, of Barangay Robles was also found hanging in his house.
His wife sent him a message saying she wanted to end their relationship, police said.
In Bago City, an embalmer was found dead in the funeral parlor where he was working.
Abelardo Archibar, 41, of Barangay Taloc killed himself after a misunderstanding with his live-in partner, Superintendent Garbosa said.
Archibar was seen drinking with a coworker before his death, police said. He told his coworker to bring the clothes of his live-in partner when he gets home.
Another suicide incident happened in Barangay Estefania here. Mark Hector Jamiana, 28, hanged himself by the neck using an electrical cord in their store on Aug. 25.
