ILOILO City â A team from the World Bank will evaluate infrastructure and enterprise subprojects in Aklan, Capiz and Antique provinces today until Wednesday.
The site visits are part of the World Bankâs fifth implementation support mission that aims to assess the midterm performance of the Department of Agricultureâs Philippine Rural Development Project worth P516,489,850.
âThe mission is critical because the World Bank teamâs findings will reflect how far we have accomplished in terms of subproject implementation vis-Ă -vis the development objectives,â said Manuel Olanday, deputy project director of the Regional Project Coordination Office 6.
The team â led by Frauke Jungbluth â will visit the locations of different infrastructure and enterprise subprojects.
Today, the team will visit the P196,997,000 Hiponia-Canapian-Quinabonglan farm-to-market road in Barangay Hiponia, Pontevedra, Capiz and the P149,965,000 Banga-Libacao farm-to-market road in Banga, Aklan.
Some team members will also check the subprojects engaged in oyster and mussel production and marketing in Capiz: the LARC Shellfish Production and Marketing in Sapian, Capiz worth P1,049,350 and the Buntod Katibyugan Shellfish Production and Marketing in Pontevedra, Capiz worth P1,090,550.
Tomorrow, the team will inspect the P165,388,000 Pampango-Rosal farm-to-market road in Libacao, Aklan.
Enterprise subprojects such as the P999,950 Lambaklad Livelihood Project in Antique and the P3-million oyster and mussel production and marketing in Aklan will also be visited.
The team will assess the different aspects of the subprojectsâ implementation, including social and environmental concerns and sustainability, among others.
The team will also hold dialogues with the beneficiaries.
World Bankâs support mission is a regular monitoring and evaluation activity to determine if the subprojects implemented under the different Regional Project Coordination Offices and Project Support Offices across the country have delivered their projectsâ objectives.
âWe will see the impact of the infrastructure and enterprise subprojects after the mission,â Olanday said.
Aside from the site visits, the midterm evaluation will also include the cluster level update of Remelyn Recoter, project director of the Project Support Office in Visayas.
Recoterâs report will include progress and implementation updates of various subprojects implemented in Western Visayas, Central Visayas and Eastern Visayas for the past three years. (With John Paul Firmalino Cadiz, RPCO 6/PN)
