CEBU City – Different pro-Duterte groups from Cebu and Bohol converged at the Plaza Independencia in this city to support the declaration of a revolutionary government in the country.
Rudy Flormata – chairman of the Network Revolution that organized the pro-Duterte rally on Thursday – said almost all the cities and municipalities in Cebu and Bohol were represented in the gathering.
“We have at least two contingents from Bohol, from Danao City, Lapu-Lapu City, Talisay City, and even from far Madridejos town in Cebu,” Flormata added.
Flormata said they want President Rodrigo Duterte to declare a revolutionary government because they believe it would lead to the country’s shifting to a federal form of government.
“We are here to declare our support for a revolutionary government as this is one way to achieve the change that we have been longing for in our country,” Flormata stressed.
Speakers from Manila gave lectures on what a revolutionary government is and how federalism works.
Flormata thanked those who attended the rally, which is the same date as the national holiday commemorating the 154th birth anniversary of Andres Bonifacio.
Some militant and cause-oriented groups also staged a rally along downtown Colon Street to protest against the administration.
The protest rally is aimed to debunk the President’s accusation that Bayan Muna is a supporter of the New People’s Army, a Bayan Muna-Central Visayas representative said. (PNA)
