KALIBO, Aklan – Three airports in Western Visayas earned the one-star rating in the latest On-Time Performance (OTP) star ratings program of the Official Aviation’s Guide (OAG).

They were the Iloilo International Airport with a 67.5 OTP rating for its 15,624 operations, the Bacolod-Silay Airport with a 64.1 OTP rating for its 13,113 operations and the Kalibo International Airport with a 57.2 OTP rating for its 17,698 operations.

The OTP star ratings program is a continuous accreditation scheme of the OAG, which uses the most comprehensive flight status database in the world.

The latest accreditation covered the period October 2016 to September 2017.

The OTP star ratings range from one to five stars. Airports that belong to the top 10 percent with the best performance in the world are given the five-star rating.

The program defines “on-time” as “departures and arrivals that take place strictly less than 15 minutes after scheduled departure/arrival time.”

Airports in Davao, Tacloban, Cagayan de Oro, Puerto Princesa, and Manila also got the one-star rating.

The top three airports with OTP five star ratings were in Tokushima, Japan with a 92.8 OTP rating, Kochi, Japan with 91.5 OTP rating and Hilo, United States of America with a 91.3 OTP rating. (Aklan Forum Journal/PN)
