Uncle, nephew drowned While fishing

BACOLOD City —An uncle and his nephew were drowned while fishing in Sipalay City on Tuesday.

Sipalay OIC police chief, Inspector Willy Diel of Sipalay identified the nephew as Robert Tajonera Jr, 26. The uncle was Alejo Delgado. Both were from Barangay 5.

Diel said Delgado’s body was found along the shores of Barangay Mambaroto four hours after the incident.

Tajonera is still missing as of press time.

The victims went fishing with four others when Tajonero was carried by big waves.

Bernadeth Tajonera, mother of Robert, said Delgado jumped from their boat to rescue his son, but they were both carried by strong water currents.

The survivors were Rommel Tarog, 15; Johnmark Apolinario, 15; and Dandan Santiago, 17.

They called Bantay Dagat for help, but the rescuers arrived 30 minutes late.

In another story, Albert Pitogo,2, was discovered floating in Himogaan River in Barangay Paraiso on Monday.

Police said the boy may have fallen from their house which is along the river./PN
