BACOLOD City – Fire struck a residential compound in Purok Kitahanun, Barangay Banago on Thursday.

A house was destroyed while another was damaged, according to the Bureau of Fire Protection.

Investigators estimated the cost of damage at P200,000.

City Fire Marshal Publio Ploteña said they learned about the blaze at around 11 a.m.

The two-story house owned by Carlos Consolacion was gutted.

That the house was made of light materials allowed the blaze to spread fast, Ploteña said.

Initial investigation showed the fire started in the bedroom of Consolacion’s daughter Cristy, said the fire marshal.

Another house, owned by Carlos’ sister Jovy, was partially damaged.

Firefighters declared the blaze “under control” at around 11:48 a.m./PN
