BACOLOD City – Shooters riding in tandem in a motorcycle killed a woman in Barangay 1, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.

Superintendent D’ Artagnan Katalbas Jr., San Carlos City police chief, identified the victim as Aileen De La Rosa Tanjay, a 50-year-old businesswoman residing in the village.

Police said the shooting happened at around 7:50 p.m. on Wednesday.

Tanjay died of multiple gunshot wounds on the body. She was taken to a hospital in San Carlos for treatment. Dr. Romeo Agraviador Jr. pronounced her dead at 10:10 p.m.

She was on board a tricycle on her way home when the motorcycle-riding suspects tailed her and fired at her several times, police investigation showed.

Officers have yet to identify the suspects and determine the motive as of this writing.

PASTOR HELD UP

Around four hours earlier, in Barangay 1 in this city, a pastor of the Emmanuel Bible Baptist Church in La Carlota City was held up.

The 54-year-old Melchor Gamboa was about to drive his motorcycle at around 4:30 p.m. when two men pointed an icepick on his back and declared hold up, a Police Station 2 report showed.

The suspects took his P10,000 cash, $150 bills and cellphone.

Police said a witness identified the suspects as Gerald Murillo and Joebert Villanueva, both from Barangay 3 in this city. Officers were still searching for the two as of this writing./PN
