ROXAS City – Councilor Matthew James Viterbo will call for an investigation into the modus that some individuals were perpetrating to get free cellphone load from commercial establishments in this capital city.

Viterbo said a staffer from Panulce Foods earlier informed him that they received a call from a yet to be known individual who pretended to be him.

The individual ordered cake and requested it be delivered to Viterbo’s office at city hall.

But the staffer – whose name Viterbo did not mention – doubted it was really Viterbo who called. She personally knew the councilor, she said.

But the staff of a pizza shop in the city, which also received a call from a man who introduced himself as Viterbo, fell as victim for the modus.

The man ordered pizza to be delivered to Viterbo’s office. On top of this, the man also requested the pizza shop staffer to buy him P1,000 worth of cellphone load.

The man said he will pay for the load upon the arrival of the pizza delivery.

The staffer heeded the man’s request.

Employees at Viterbo’s office were surprised when a pizza delivery boy showed himself at the councilor’s office.

That time, Viterbo was not in his office to make any pizza delivery call, the city hall employees said.

Another establishment, a cellphone loading station, also fell as victim of the modus. They lost P7,000 to a caller who also claimed to be Viterbo.

It was not immediately clear if more than one individual were behind the modus./PN
