BACOLOD City — Five fishermen engaged in dynamite fishing were caught by the Bantay Dagat Task Force at Zone 6, Barangay Daga, Cadiz City.
Police Officer 3 Bobby Caballero, Bantay Dagat head, identified the suspects as Danilo Batusbatusan Quijano, 53; Joel Moradas, 50; Armando Negre, 49; Eddie Tipon, 43; and Jason Javier, 31.
All of them were from Sitio Pangpang, Barangay Tiglawigan, Cadiz City.
Caballero said the task force on Thursday heard an explosion from where the pump boat George Quijano was.
The suspects tried to escape but Bantay Dagat personnel caught them on chase, he said.
Seized from them were 300 kilos of assorted fishes in four boxes, an air compressor with about 50-meter long hose, 10 improvised frogmen kicks, and bag nets.
Detained in Cadiz City jail, the suspects face charges for violating the fishery law and are./PN
