Rerouting extension needs SP approval, says Gasataya

BACOLOD City β€” The Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) should seek the approval of the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) before extending its traffic experiment, said Vice Mayor Greg Gasataya.

BTAO plans to extend its 45-day traffic experiment that ended on Sept. 5.

Gasataya said the SP has not yet received a letter from the BTAO requesting for the extension.

Drivers were left confused when the traffic experiment ended.

Some of them took the old route, while others used the traffic experiment route.

If the BTAO does not ask for an extension, public utility drivers must take the old routes, Gasataya said.

BTAO head Reynaldo Ebreo said they are now preparing the documents needed for the rerouting extension.

According to Ebreo the rerouting minimized traffic congestion in major roads and intersections here.

City Legal Office head Rayfrando Diaz said they are helping the BTAO with their documents.

For the meantime, vehicles must follow the routes under the traffic experiment, Diaz said

These routes are Sta. Fe-Central Market, Fortune Town-Central Market and Homesite- Central Market./PN
