The nonparticipation of 39 barangays in the Business One-Stop Shop at the Bacolod City Government Center is cited as a factor in the delay in the processing of business permits. BACOLOD CITY PIO

BACOLOD City – The Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MBCCI) appealed to the city government to extend the processing of permits at the Business One-Stop Shop (BOSS).

Unlike other cities, Bacolod has a lot of business permit applications, according to MBCCI chief executive officer Frank Carbon.

Carbon was asking the local government to give local businesses until Feb. 28, just like what it had done in the past.

The BOSS, which involves agencies and offices issuing requirements for business permit application setting up desks at city hall, started on Jan. 3 and will end on the 20th.

During the period, anyone renewing their permit or applying for a new one may avail themselves of a 10-percent discount on processing fees.

But the nonparticipation of 39 barangays (not 38 as previously reported) has been cited as a factor in the delays.

All BOSS applicants cannot proceed without a barangay clearance.

The barangays identified to have to failed to participate in BOSS were Felisa, Montevista, Punta Taytay, Villamonte, 1, 2, 3,4, 6, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 40, and 41.

There are 61 barangays in this city.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia, meanwhile, said he was coordinating with the Interior department on what to do with the nonparticipating villages.

Their participation is a “legal obligation,” the mayor stressed./PN
