ILOILO City — A housewife lost P300,000 worth of jewelry to five men who forcibly entered her house in Barangay Bancal, Carles, Iloilo yesterday.
Lourdes Betita and her grandson were surprised to find five armed men in their house at about 2:30 a.m.
“The suspects entered the house by destroying the front door’s lock,” said Police Officer 3 Johnny Oro, Carles police investigator.
They held Betita and her grandson at gunpoint while scooping her jewelry, Oro said.
Police cornered two of the robbers in a manhunt — Robert Buhayan, 19, and Roman Baclason, 21, also of Barangay Bancal — but failed to recover the stolen items.
The other suspects — Anwar Bermudez, 22, his brother Che, 20, and a certain Nilo, all of the same village — remain at large.
Police said all five were also suspects in other robberies in Carles and neighboring towns./PN
