BACOLOD City — Supt. Jefferson Descallar, spokesperson and Special Operation Group (SOG) chief of Bacolod City Police Office, denied his alleged involvement in illegal drug trade. He believes a “demolition job” is out against him.
PO3 Dennis Finch, a member of the SOG, reportedly sold five big sachets of suspected shabu to a certain “Mrs. Socorro,” saying the supply came from Descallar.
Mrs. Socorro, a resident of Purok Kagaykay, Brgy. 2 here, who refused to disclose her first name for fear of reprisal, said she sent money for the drugs via Palawan Pawnshop Pera Padala.
Descallar, 40, claimed the shabu reportedly sold was among the ones the SOG confiscated during one of its raids.
He believes that Mrs. Socorro was only being used by those who want to shame him, either disgruntled policemen or drug lords.
Finch is currently “restricted” in the SOG headquarters.
In 2005, Descallar was recognized as one of the country’s Outstanding Policemen in Service (COPS) – Junior Police Officer by Metrobank Foundation, Inc., for leading intensive campaigns against illegal activities, especially illegal drugs.
He was only 11 years in the police service when he received the award for numerous operations against illegal loggers and dynamite fishers; insurgents; drug dealers; kidnap-for-ransom, robbery and holdup groups; and erring and corrupt local officials and policemen.
His biggest accomplishment was the arrest of a Muslim woman carrying a kilo of shabu between her thighs in Sagay City in 2004./PN
