KALIBO, Aklan – A veterinary medicine student was crowned as the Mutya it Kalibo Ati-Atihan 2018.

The 19-year-old Gracel Ilad Gilongos bested 15 other candidates during the coronation night at the Gov. Augusto B. Legaspi Sports and Cultural Center in this capital town on Jan. 12.

Gilongos, a third-year student of the Aklan State University-Banga campus, also got the preliminary round awards Best in Swimsuit and Best in Long Gown.

Gilongos – who is also the reigning Miss Nabas Tourism – is the eighth holder of the Mutya it Kalibo Ati-Atihan title, according to pageant organizer Kalibo Santo Niño Ati-Atihan Foundation, Inc.

Mutya it Kalibo Ati-Atihan 2017 May Adel Ahmed Salman turned the crown over to Gilongos along with Aklan vice governor Reynaldo Quimpo and Municipal Legal Officer Reynaldo Ross Sucgang IV.

Meanwhile, the 16-year-old Elamrie Dewara of Barangay Odiong, Altavas, a student of the Regional Science High School for Region VI in Kalibo, placed as first runner-up. She bagged the corporate awards Miss Philippine Airlines, Miss Novellino and Miss Forever Young Skin Care and the Best in Talent, a minor award.

Numancia resident Ina Donna Jean Pendon, 18, placed second runner-up while Sheiney Jage Mationg, 17, third runner-up.

Mationg was the Best in Production Number.

The 19-year-old Mila Mariella Simera of Barangay Poblaciob, Ibajay won as fourth runner-up.

Other candidates included in the top 10 were Angelica Marie Lim, Annicka Pauline Dela Cruz, Marijo Mariz Ureta, Stephanie Palomata, and Reichelle Macaraeg.

Lim got the Miss Globe (Texter’s Choice), Miss People’s Choice, Miss Photogenic, and Miss Kasafi Runway awards.

Dela Cruz got the corporate award Miss Lecit-E while Ureta, the Miss Petron award, and Palomata, the Miss Coca-Cola award. (Aklan Forum Journal/PN)
