ILOILO City – The security guard found dead in a Barangay Navais fishpond in Mandurriao district Wednesday last week was murdered, police said.
The 29-year-old JR Porras, a resident of Nueva Valencia, Guimaras and detailed as security guard of Valiant Enterprises here, had head injuries, said Chief Inspector Lea Rose Peña, Mandurriao police chief.
Porras was hit with a hard object on the head, the autopsy showed.
“He was murdered contrary to our first speculation that he perhaps accidentally fell into the fishpond and drowned,” said Peña.
The police will be including in the investigation Porras’ colleagues at Valiant Enterprises and those at his security agency.
“The killing could be work-related,” said Peña. On Friday, Porras’ fellow security guards went to the police to clear their names.
Porras was temporarily residing in Barangay Bakhaw, Mandurriao. He was positively identified by his brother, Lemuel, 29.
The security guard’s live-partner Grace Prias, 24, of San Enrique, Iloilo also identified him.
Porras was found dead around 7 a.m. on Sept. 10 floating in a fishpond.
There were scratches on his body./PN
