BACOLOD City â The Vallacar Transit, Inc. (VTI) has increased its fare rate effective Jan. 18 due to the successive increases in the prices of fuel, it said in a statement.
VTI legal and media relations officer Jade Seballos said the fuel price hike âgreatly affects our operations.â
VTI is the operator of Ceres buses, which are plying routes in Negros Occidental.
VTI bases its fare increase rate on a matrix. Air-conditioned and regular buses have different matrices.
The matrix depends on the distance travelled by a commuter.
“We would like to assure the general riding public that the fare increase we implemented does not go beyond the old fare matrix prescribed by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) 10 years ago,â Seballos said.
She said the fare matrix that the LTFRB prescribed took effect in Western Visayas on Dec. 15, 2008.
âWith this, we appeal for the understanding of the general riding public as we continue to provide you the best service,â Seballos added./PN
