SAN JOSE, Antique â Members of the SangguniangPanlalawigan (SP) felt sentimental as they held their last regular session at the old capitol.
The capitol will undergo renovation and retrofitting and will soon be converted into a museum.
The museum will house important historical pieces of Antique â like the bullet-riddled clothes of the slain local hero Evelio Javier, also a former governor of the province.
The Department of Public Works and Highways allocated P50 million for the buildingâs much needed refurbishment.
After the building is renovated, the SP members wonât be holding any of their sessions there.
The DPWH has also allocated another P50 million for the SPâs three-storey legislative building.
âWe better have our picture taken because today is historical. Itâs our last time to hold the SP session here,â Vice Gov. Edgar Denosta told other SP members before they adjourned the meeting on Thursday.
According to Denosta, the SP will hold its sessions in a rented space at RMU3 Building in this capital town while construction is ongoing. (PNA/PN)
