BACOLOD City – Businessman and singer-songwriter Jose Mari Chan is now an “adopted son and honorary mayor” of this capital city.
The city council approved last week a resolution making Chan such upon the request of the Bacolaodiat, Inc.
Bacolaodiat, Inc. chairwoman Jennifer Ong said they made the request as part of their preparation for the 13th Bacolaodiat Festival slated from Feb. 15 to 18.
The festival organizers wants to honor Chan as they welcome the Chinese New Year “with ardent hope of success and perseverance, in much the same way that Chan transformed his honorable beginnings into success story.”
Councilor Ceasar Distrito, chairman of the city’s committee on finance and appropriations, said the city government allocated P5 million for the festival.
During the local celebration, road closure will be observed on South Capitol Road on Feb 15 to 17 and at the Tourism Strip stretching from 5th and 13th Lacson streets on Feb. 16 to 18./PN
