BACOLOD City – The structural integrity of the flyover located at the intersection of the Magsaysay and Araneta streets is intact, according to the City Engineering Office.
City District Engineer Abraham Villareal said he sent some engineers to inspect the flyover after receiving a call from Rep. Greg Gasataya on Wednesday.
On the same day, the Sanguniang Panlungsod passed a resolution requesting for the flyover’s inspection.
Resolution proponent Councilor Ricardo Tan said issues are circulating on social media that the flyover may not be safe to use.
Some motorists have observed that the structure has incurred bulges that were allegedly caused by the heavy load it carries.
Tan added that a portion of the flyover becomes unstable once passed through by vehicles.
“A portion of the flyover shakes. Many have noticed it when they are passing through the flyover,” Tan said.
Villareal said the City Engineering Office’s statement was based on the inspection that its personnel have conducted.
He added that he will inform the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) regarding the issue.
Villareal also said he will request the DPWH central office to send its inspectors to the flyover to “verify the matter.”/PN
