BACOLOD City – Separate shooting incidents in Calatrava, Negros Occidental killed a man and injured another.
Police identified the victims as Roberto Byarcal Bargayo, 41, of Barangay Marcelo and Raul Mahinay Ugdiman, 27, of Barangay Dolis.
Ugdiman was shot at around 10:30 a.m. on Feb. 8 in Barangay Laga-an.
Bound for home from Barangay Bug-ang, Toboso, he was driving a motorcycle that collided with two others.
Initially reported as a traffic accident, the incident turned out to be a shooting, police investigation showed.
Ugdiman sustained a gunshot wound on the back. He was taken to the Calatrava District Hospital where he was pronounced “dead on arrival.”
On the other hand, Bargayo was having dinner in his house at around 8:30 p.m. on Feb. 7 when an unidentified gunman fired at him, police said.
He sustained a gunshot wound on the back. He was taken to the Alfredo Marañon Sr. District Hospital in Sagay City but was later referred to the Our Lady of Mercy Hospital in this city.
The Calatrava police station continues to investigate the two shootings as of press time./PN
