BACOLOD City – Police are giving particular attention to an overpass in front of Robinsons Place mall on Lacson Street, Barangay Mandalagan.

An 18-year-old woman was sexually harassed there, police said.

Senior Superintendent Francisco Ebreo, city police head, directed Senior Inspector Jun Ray Batadlan, Police Station 3 commander, to increase personnel visibility in the area.

The reported sexual harassment happened at around 10 p.m. on Feb. 5.

A worker for a fast-food restaurant chain at the mall, the woman was walking on the overpass on her way home when she passed by two men.

One of them suddenly grabbed her hand and tried to unclothe her, the woman told the police.

She said she would always use the overpass every time she gets off work but what happened to her on Monday was a first.

Police said the woman was unable to identify her attackers because it was her first time to see them, too.

“Rugby boys,” or male street people sniffing solvent, were observed to hang out at that overpass, Ebreo said.

For his part, Batadlan said that, aside from detailing officers there, he will ask the mall management to have their security guards check the area from time to time./PN
