ILOILO City – A construction worker killed his foreman in Barangay Laguda, La Paz district yesterday.
EG Bedia of Barangay Subang, Dumangas, Iloilo admitted attacking Ivan Pama, 36, of Barotac Viejo town inside their barracks.
Pama was found dead around 2:50 a.m. by colleague Russel Naces who in turn alerted their other companions.
Hours prior to the discovery of the victim’s body, Pama and Bedia had a heated argument during a drinking binge with other colleagues at a videoke bar, said Senior Inspector Rey Sumagaysay, La Paz police chief.
The bar was a few meters away from the men’s barracks.
Pama reportedly threatened to fire Bedia during their altercation, said Sumagaysay.
“Colleagues managed to pacify the two men but two hours later, they again fought,” according to the police chief.
At the La Paz police station, Bedia claimed he was already sleeping when Pama barged into their barracks to confront him again.
“Sa kaugot ko ginlampusan ko siya sa ulo. Naglakat man ko dayon,” Bedia told Panay News.
The suspect said he used a piece of wood on Pama.
The 68-year-old mother of Pama, Leticia, confronted Bedia at the police station.
“Tani gin kaloy-an mo si Ivan. Tani ginsumbag mo lang sia, wala mo lang ginpatay. Indi man malain batasan ni Ivan ngaa ginpatay mo gid,” Leticia told Bedia.
