BACOLOD City — Semifinal matches for the SJI Volleyball Friendship Cup will be held this coming Saturday starting at 1 p.m. at the Msgr. John Liu Activity Center.
The St. John’s Institute (SJI) High School Varsity topped the league with an unbeaten record of five straight wins, defeating the SJI Mommies, 25-14 and 25-13, during their last game.
Batch 2010-14 Alumni team claimed the second spot with a 4-1 card. They scored back-to-back wins against the SJI Mommies, 25-8 and 25-15, and the Faculty, 25-13 and 25-16.
The Aspirants team got a 3-2 card for the third spot after defeating Batch 2009 & Earlier, 25-20, 20-25 and 25-22.
But the Alumni team caught the last bus to the semifinals after finishing with a 2-3 record and rallying past the Faculty, 22-25, 25-16 and 25-15.
This Saturday, the SJI High School Varsity — which is enjoying the twice-to-beat advantage — will battles Batch 2009 & Earlier. The match between the Aspirants and Batch 2009 and Earlier will follow.
Winners will play for the final game on Sept. 27, while the losers will play for third place./PN
