BACOLOD City – A man suspect in the death of his live-in partner in Barangay Granada, Carles, Iloilo was arrested in Barangay Cadiz Viejo, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental.
Chief Inspector Rocky Desear, Cadiz City police chief, identified the man as the 36-year-old Crisanto Esconia, a fisherman.
Esconia was arrested around 5 p.m. on Sunday, a day after he stabbed dead the 50-year-old Lilian Montes.
According to Carles municipal police head Chief Inspector Leo Amar, Esconia and the 24-year-old Cazel Montes – Lilian’s son – had a heated argument while they were binge drinking around 8:45 p.m. on Saturday.
This prompted Lilian to intervene but Esconia stabbed her on the chest.
Lilian was rushed to the nearest hospital where the attending physician pronounced her “dead on arrival.”
Cazel, who sustained stab wounds on the stomach, was rushed to the Western Visayas Medical Center where he was currently under treatment.
Barangay Cadiz Viejo watchmen reported Esconia to the police when they saw him drenched in blood while disembarking from a motorboat.
Esconia was turned over to the Carles municipal police station./PN
