BACOLOD City – What the police called an “ambush” of an antidrug officer yesterday turned against a resident of Barangay Rizal, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.

Christopher Pacana of Phase 3 Fatima Village was wounded after Police Officer 3 Alvin Gutang Allarce fired at him.

Police identified Pacana as a “suspected drug personality” targeting Allarce, chief of the San Carlos City police station’s City Drug Enforcement Unit.

Allarce was driving a vehicle while on duty when Pacana waylaid and fired at the police officer, according to Superintendent D’Artagnan Katalbas Jr., San Carlos police chief.

Pacana missed, giving Allarce a chance to fire back, investigation showed.

The 38-year-old Pacana sustained a gunshot wound on the left side of the body.

He was rushed to the San Carlos City Hospital for treatment.

Police said the trade of gunshots between the 42-year-old Allarce and Pacana happened at around 12:15 a.m. in Barangay Rizal. Both lived in the same barangay.

The following were recovered from the crime scene:
