MANILA – Manuel Herrera converted a last-minute goal for Ceres Negros to force a 1-1 draw with Home United in the 2018 AFC Cup at the Jalan Besar Stadium in Singapore.

Trailing 0-1 after a first-half point by Home United’s Sharil Ishak, Ceres Negros salvaged the match when Herrera scored from a header in the 79th minute on a pass by Manny Ott from the corner.

The Tuesday night outcome allowed the Negros Occidental-based squad to stay on top of Group F with 4 points. The host club had the same score line but landed on second place due to goal difference.

Home United – undefeated on its home field – appeared close to extending its streak when Ishak converted off the penalty spot after Ceres Negros’ Sean Kane was called for a foul inside the box.

Another draw occurred at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium that night – Global Cebu survived a late run by Bali United of Indonesia to settle for a 1-1 outcome.

The Cebuanos opened the scoring with newcomer Curt Dizon converting via a header in the 12th minute. Global failed to protect its lead as Bali United’s Ilija Spasojevic scored from inside the box.

Bali United had a chance to complete a come-from-behind victory but Global Cebu’s goalkeeper Patrick Deyto was more alert, thwarting an attempt from Spasojevic.

Global Cebu stayed on third place in Group G with 1 point on one loss and a draw while Bali United was on fourth place, also with a point to show./PN
