ILOILO City – Believed to be drunk, the driver of a tricycle that allegedly sideswiped a taxi and its driver on Sen. Benigno Aquino Jr. Avenue in Mandurriao district was arrested.
The 22-year-old Kirt Marvin Balgos of Barangay Aguinaldo, La Paz was detained at the Mandurriao police station.
His tricycle sideswiped a taxi (plate number FWY-434) parked in front of Ted’s restaurant at around 1:15 a.m. yesterday, a police report showed.
Standing next to the taxi, its driver – 40-year-old Ronel Soldevilla of Leganes, Iloilo – was sideswiped, too.
As a result, Soldevilla fell onto the pavement, causing pain on his right leg and left arm, the report stated.
Personnel from the Iloilo City Response Team brought him to the Iloilo Mission Hospital in Jaro.
Balgos was unruly and smelled of alcoholic beverage. He also failed to present a driver’s license, police said.
The taxi incurred damage on the left rear bumper and left rear tire while the tricycle had none, the police report showed./PN
