BACOLOD City — Businessmen are supporting the power purchase agreement between Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) and Energreen Power Development and Management, Inc. (Energreen).
Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. president Frank Carbon said the agreement will ensure stability of power supply in view of the projected 110-megawatt deficit by 2020.
The provincial and the city governments will implement an investment promotion program (IPP) to attract multinational corporations and investors to build their businesses here, Carbon said.
He said the IPP will open 5,000 additional employments in the province.
With the projected economic development, the demand for electricity is seen to increase, Carbon said.
“Because we have stiff competition with other cities, we will offer various incentives to our investors including a stable and reliable power supply,” Carbon said.
Ceneco is in the best position to look for their power suppliers, said Carbon.
Ceneco recently signed a contract with Energreen that would supply them electricity for P12.44 per kilo-watt hour.
The Energreen power plant is currently being constructed in Barangay Calumanggan, Bago City.
The operation is expected to start in December./PN
