MANILA – Petron Blaze Spikers made a quick work of newcomer Smart Giga Hitters, 25-12, 25-14, 25-17, to stay unbeaten in the Philippine Superliga Grand Prix at the San Juan Arena.

Hillary Hurley led the way with 15 points, on 12 attacks and two service aces, while Lindsay Stalzer chipped in 14 markers, on 11 attacks and two blocks, for the Blaze Spikers (3-0).

Blaze Spikers head coach Ceseal Delos Santos lauded his players effort on Thursday night, saying it would serve as morale-booster for their rematch with reigning champion F2 Logistics Cargo Movers tonight.

“While we’re hopeful that we can maintain our good form, we also want to level up our game and work on our weaknesses,” said Delos Santos.

The Blaze Spikers were simply at their best against the Giga Hitters especially in the second set with Mika Reyes, Frances Molina and Stalzer towering over the defensive end to make it hard for the opponent to score.

Gyselle Silva of Cuba was the lone bright spot with 23 points for the Giga Hitters (0-2), which is still awaiting for the arrival of its other import in Serbian Sanja Trivunovic next week.

In the second game, Cocolife Asset Managers cruised to its second consecutive win as it defeated Sta. Lucia Lady Realtors, 23-25, 25-21, 25-19, 25-16, to improve to 2-2 win-loss slate.

Serbian import Sara Klisura and American hitter Taylor Milton delivered the goods with 19 and 18 points, respectively, for the Asset Managers./PN
