MANILA – Petron Blaze Spikers exacted its revenge on finals tormentor F2 Logistics Cargo Movers with a come-from-behind victory 20-25, 25-19, 25-19, 25-19 in the Philippine Superliga Grand Prix at the San Juan Arena.

American Lindsay Stalzer led the way with 21 points while fellow import Hillary Hurley added 20 markers for Blaze Spikers, which remained on top of the standings (4-0) after the Saturday night win.

After losing the opening set, Blaze Spikers responded in the second frame for a 19-13 lead on hits by Hurley and Stalzer. Cargo Movers trimmed the deficit to 17-20 but Blaze Spikers answered with hits from Hurley to close the set.

Blaze Spikers continued its strong showing in the third as it opened a 19-13 lead with conversions from Mika Reyes and Stalzer. Cargo Movers made its move to cut the deficit but their errors allowed Blaze Spikers to claim the set.

With victory in sight, Blaze Spikers opened the fourth frame with an 8-4 lead but Cargo Movers was able to tie the count at 10-all. Blaze Spikers then went on to pull away with conversions from Reyes, Chlodia Cortez and Frances Molina.

Maria Jose Perez, the Most Valuable Player when Cargo Movers defeated Blaze Spikers in the finals last year, emerged with 21 points while Kennedy Bryan had 18 for Cargo Movers (1-1).

In the first game, Cocolife Asset Managers turned to Sara Klisura’s exploits to score an impressive 25-19, 25-22, 25-18 straight-set victory over Foton Tornadoes.

Klisura led the way with 28 points, on 24 kills, three blocks and a service ace, for Asset Managers, which recorded its third consecutive win (3-2). Tornadoes is now 1-2./PN
