WHILE they do not want to give a prediction, CenterPhil Montessori Silver Knights said they will do everything to make Western Visayas proud when they compete in the Smart Breakdown Basketball Invitationals this week at the Ateneo de Manila University gym.

CenterPhil team owner Mark Plagata Palabrica said their basketball team will be ready for the expected tough challenge from other Under 17 teams from Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cagayan De Oro, Cavite, Davao, and Naga.

Ayaw naming mag-promise but one thing we can assure is ibibigay namin ang lahat to represent the region well,” Palabrica said while noting that their campaign “will not be easy dahil malalakas ang kalaban.”

Expected to lead the way for Silver Knights are veterans Mark Cleofas, Patrick John Gain, Ronald Silorio, Lester Valn Paraico, Jedrick Sean Tigres, Narince Balano, and Ian Gasacao.

Silver Knights earned the right to play in the tournament after defeating Hercor College Junior Jaguars 75-65 in the 1st Governor’s Cup Regional Invitational Championships finale late last year.

Other teams in the U-17 division are Xavier School, Immaculate Conception Academy-Cavite, Philippine Academy of Sakya-Davao, Southern Philippines College-Cagayan De Oro, and Montessori De San Ildefonso-Bulacan.

Xavier School will see action in the Under 12 tournament against Assumption College of Davao, Bukidnon Faith Christian, Inc.-Cagayan De Oro, St. Thomas Moore Academy Cavite, and San Miguel Elementary School.

The defending champion for the U-12 division is La Salle Greenhills while San Beda High School is the reigning U-17 titlist.

BLIND ITEM: A beautiful courtside reporter recently broke up with her boyfriend, a Filipino-American basketball player, due to the latter’s propensity for flirting with other women.

A source told Buzzer Beater that the courtside reporter had seen enough of the basketball player’s womanizing habits that she decided to end their relationship that went on for two years.
