ROXAS City – A 67-year-old man admitted to killing his friend in Barangay Inzo Arnaldo Village, police said.

Resident Antonio Eduardo was tagged to have a hand in the death of the 60-year-old Antonio dela Rosa, who went missing on March 9.

Eduardo was brought to the Roxas City police station on Monday for questioning but he initially denied the allegation.

Around 9 a.m. yesterday, though, he confessed that he hit dela Rosa on the head using a hammer. He also chopped dela Rosa’s legs and placed them in a sack for disposal.

Eduardo placed the remaining of dela Rosa’s body in a garbage bag.

He then dumped the sack and the bag in an area along the road in Barangay Banica, police said.

Dela Rosa’s remains were already in state of decomposition when police officers recovered them yesterday.

The remains were brought to a local funeral parlor, police said.

According to the investigation, jealousy was the motive in the killing.

Eduardo was jealous of dela Rosa because his wife – who left their house after he allegedly hit her on Friday – frequents the latter’s residence, police said.

Dela Rosa’s daughter Anamae Lagrira said, “Naglisensya lang siya nga malakat sang Friday gamit iya bisikleta pero nagab-ihan lang wala na sya kabalik.”

Witnesses said they saw dela Rosa and Eduardo having a drinking binge before the former went missing.

Eduardo was detained at the Roxas City police station lockup facility and facing a murder charge./PN
