BACOLOD City — A former security guard was shot dead in Sitio Amalia, Barangay Jonob-Jonob, Escalante City.

Luisito Patigayon Gutib, 30 of Barangay Alimango was on his way to buy drinks for his friends when he was shot around 4 p.m. on Sunday, said Superintendent Leo Batiles, Escalante police chief.

The suspects escaped and remain unidentified, Batiles said.

Witnesses said the suspects had their faces covered with T-shirts.

Batiles suspected that Gutib’s friends shot him.

Policemen recovered a magazine for a .9-mm pistol at the crime scene.

Cheryl, Gutib’s wife, said her husband has no enemy.

Gutib used to work as a security guard in Cebu but failed to renew his firearm license.
