Ricci Rivero: ‘Bye, La Salle!’

“All good things come to an end. Thank you to the La Sallian community for the support you have given me,” says Green Archer Ricci Rivero.

MANILA – Ricci Rivero has left De La Salle University Green Archers.

Rivero, who was on a leave of absence along with three others, bid the team goodbye on Thursday.

In a post on Twitter, the 6-foot-1 forward thanked the La Salle community for his two-year stay in the school and said he is looking forward to a new chapter in his basketball career.

“All good things come to an end. Thank you to the La Sallian community for the support you have given me,” wrote the one-time UAAP Most Improved Player awardee. “The Animo spirit will always be with me. It’s now time to move forward.”

A source from the University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers quickly shot down the notion of Rivero reuniting with former head coach Aldin Ayo, who is now with the España team.

“No, they won’t go to UST,” said the source, who refused to be named.

While it is still not clear where Rivero is headed next, a source told Panay News he will focus on attending Gilas Pilipinas practices and could also see action in the PBA Developmental League.

Rivero, along with brother Rashleigh and teammate Brent Paraiso, filed a one-year leave of absence with Green Archers as they wished to fulfill their off-court commitments.

The three reportedly tested positive for illegal drug use during a surprise test conducted by Green Archers.

Ricci and Paraiso already posted separate drug test results showing they were negative of any illegal substance./PN
