ILOILO City – A glass panel fell off a building under construction along Sen. Benigno Aquino Jr. Avenue in Barangay Bolilao, Mandurriao district on Saturday.
It crashed on and damaged two vehicles, police said.
At the time, at around 2 p.m., the cars were negotiating the access road along which the building was located. Their windshields were hit.
The drivers – Gabriel Lorenzo, 20, of Ledesco Village, La Paz district and Vincent Perosia, 44, of Oton, Iloilo – were unhurt, said Chief Inspector Juvy Navales, Mandurriao police chief.
It was under the same building where the right foot of a 16-year-old boy got cut off two Saturdays ago when a construction equipment the police described as a “pulley” fell on him.
Sam John Cel Villegas was calling for passengers for Leganes-Iloilo City jeepneys when the accident happened on a Black Saturday.
The establishment that owns the building said its contractor will shoulder the hospital expenses of Villegas.
“This is negligence,” Navales said, stressing that the contractor and the building owner “should do something to ensure public safety.”
She said they continue to investigate the incident as of press time./PN
