ROXAS City – Two separate drug operations were conducted in this capital city, resulting to the arrests of three drug suspects.
Personnel from the Capiz Police Provincial Office Drug Enforcement Unit led by Senior Inspector Hilbert Gervero arrested the 41-year-old Restituto Oquendo Jr. of Barangay 7 and 37-year-old Ace Baes of Barangay Lawaan on Sunday, a police report showed.
Oquendo and Baes were caught after they sold shabu to a poseur-buyer for P500. Gervero said.
Recovered from their possession were five sachets of suspected shabu, P1,000 cash and a cellphone.
The police also confiscated a motorcycle from the suspects.
Oquendo is son of Barangay Hipona, Pontevedra, Capiz village chief Resituto Oquendo Sr.
“Ginpatawag ko na ina siya kag ginhambalan nga mag–untat na sa illegal niya nga buluhaton. Ginhatagan ko man siya sang punong (fishpond) para iya palangabuhian but he is uncontrollable,” the older Oquendo told Panay News. “Mayad gani nga nadakpan siya kay kun ari siya sa gwa basi mapatay lang siya.”
During police interrogation, Oquendo and Baes disclosed who supplies them with illegal drugs.
This prompted the police to stage another sting operation, which led to the apprehension of the 41-year-old Andrew Patiño of Barangay IV.
Recovered from Patiño were four sachets of shabu, P1,000 marked money, a disposable lighter, a weighing scale, and a yellow belt bag, police said.
All three suspects were detained at the Roxas City police station lockup facility and facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
