BACOLOD City – It was still unclear why a man hacked his uncle in Barangay Camingawan, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, according to the police.

The 42-year-old resident Antonio Canonoy Jr. sustained hack wounds on the chest and left shoulder, a police report showed.

He was currently under treatment at the Mother of Mercy Hospital in Kabankalan City.

His 22-year-old nephew Ian Canonoy, also a resident of the village, was responsible for the hacking, police said.

Antonio was driving a Honda XRM motorcycle with Alvin Jay Canonoy, another relative, around 8 p.m. on Tuesday when Ian waylaid them.

Ian then attacked Antonio with a bolo, said the police.

Relatives Romeo Canonoy, 57 and Larry Canonoy, 44, were also there when the hacking happened.

Police were still locating Ian, who fled after the incident./PN
